I'm still writing. I've officially moved on to draft #2. Having gone through the first draft removed or changed about 50% of the original story. Slashes and squiggles and miscellaneous notes adorn the pages with bright red ink from my favorite marker. But the more I work on the script, the more I begin to love the story. Usually when I write, I'm not too fond of the whole idea to begin with. I figure the concept of it is just alright. But it gradually grows on me like moss or vines, then the relationship blossoms and I work on it without hesitation. Oh, and I changed the year to 1942 rather than 1944 as I had mentioned last week. Makes it more plausible in my story as it occurs during a significant timeframe.
The 62nd Cannes Film Festival was this week. I've been reading up on some of the competition there and they've got some interesting films on the selection. Some loathed and some loved. Two in particular that people seemed to loath was Anti-Christ from Lars Von Trier (I don't like his films. Breaking The Waves was just okay. I hated Dogville.) and Kinatay by Brillante Mendoza (fellow Filipino, but haven't seen any of his stuff yet). One that was loved was A Prophet by Jacques Audiard. Terry Gilliam also showed Heath Ledger's final film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus as well as Quentin Tarantino premiering Inglorious Bastards. They announce the winner for the coveted Palme D'Or tonight. Otherwise I would have mentioned it in today's post. No one really knows who the frontrunner is, as the Cannes jury are known for making some odd decisions in the past. But we'll just have to wait and see.
Finally this week, they released the new trailer for the new Sherlock Holmes movie directed by Guy Ritchie. I loved his last film RocknRolla, which I think he should have done instead of that campy Madonna-flick Swept Away some years back. It's actually nice to have him have directing stuff he's known for.
It stars Robert Downey, Jr as Holmes, Jude Law as Watson, and Rachel McAdams. Looks fun! I sorta like the Holmes movie back from the 80s. It was a little fun. I still have a couple of books on the crowded bookshelf somewhere. Maybe I should dust it off and reread it. Maybe I will, after I finish draft #2.

keep writing eagerly awaiting the movie, love film festivals, have you been to Cannes visited recently but not when festival was on! yeah Dogville was strange
This Sherlock Holmes does look like it'll be good...I definitely like Guy Ritchie films like RocknRolla, Snatch, Lock Stock & ...well, I always forget the name of that one, but you know... Swept Away, really? She must have made him do that one.
