Airbending

Belated happy 4th for those of you in the US. Can you believe it's already July????? Eek...

This week's new trailer, actually it's more of a teaser than a trailer, is for The Last Airbender. Based on the popular cartoon that was featured on Nickelodeon called Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Poster from Wikipedia

Now the slight down side of this movie is that it's directed by M. Night Shyamalan. You Should know him by now. He did the Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, The Village, Signs and more recently the very forgettable Lady In the Water and The Happening. I still want my $6 bucks and 2-hours back for each one. That would make it $12 bucks and 4 hours. His first couple of films I really enjoyed. After that, it all went down hill for me and maybe for others. So I'm a bit on the fence with him behind the director's chair.

I love the animated version. I've seen all the episodes. It really isn't like all those other animated shows where each episode has a different story. This actually has a story arc and structure that lasted 3 seasons. With each episode titled like chapters in a book.

From ScreenCave .com

Premise via wikipedia:
"In a world where the four elements can be controlled by people known as "Benders", the Fire Nation is waging a ruthless, oppressive war to control the other great nations. The only hope for stopping the brutal war led by the Firebenders rests on the shoulders of a reluctant young boy named Aang (Noah Ringer). The last known survivor of the peaceful Air Nomads and the Airbenders, Aang is the "Avatar". The "Avatar" is the physical re-incarnation of the world spirit, with the power to manipulate all four elements and draw upon the power, knowledge, and experiences of the Avatar's previous incarnations. The Avatar is responsible for maintaining balance between the four nations of the world and the spirit world, hence keeping the balance of the world. Aided by a protective teenage Waterbender named Katara (Nicola Peltz) and her bull-headed brother Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), Aang begins a perilous journey to restore balance to their war-torn world. Standing in their way are Fire Nation Admiral Zhao (Aasif Mandvi) and Prince Zuko (Dev Patel), the banished prince of the Fire Nation who seeks to capture the young Avatar to regain his honor."

Anyway, the teaser looks great, but it's only a teaser. I read that they already plan to do two sequels. I'm always a neutral party, so we'll see when the move comes out next summer.

Here's the teaser. Enjoy!

Although I always love the trailers, the only ones I actually "really" liked were The Sixth Sense and Lady in the Water... BUT, my son is making me take him to see this cuz he's an Avatar fan, so fingers crossed!...looks good
