excitement and inspiring

I recently saw the trailer for Spike Jonze's new movie "Where The Wild Things Are." Based on the book by Maurice Sendak. I haven't read this book before, but I have heard of it. I wasn't much of a book fan in my younger years. I missed out on reading some great literature. I'm making up for it now. Anyway... The trailer for this movie is pretty amazing. I don't usually go gaga over trailers as majority of the time they are misleading or completely sh*t. Once in a while I'll say "that looks interesting." Check it out. It opens in theaters October of this year. An interesting tidbit, the Jim Henson Creature Shop created the suits and animatronics for the monsters in the film. Sweet!

A little brief rundown of the story via wikipedia: It is the story of Max, who one evening plays around his home, "making mischief" in a wolf costume by chasing the dog with a fork and growling at his mom. As punishment, his mother sends him to bed without supper. In his room, a mysterious, wild forest grows out of his imagination, and Max journeys to the land of the Wild Things. The Wild Things are fearsome-looking monsters, but Max conquers them "by staring into their yellow eyes without blinking once," and he is made "the King of all Wild Things." However, he soon finds himself lonely and homesick, and he returns home to his bedroom, where he finds his supper waiting for him, still hot.

Another thing. You've probably heard about this during the week, but I gotta mention it here. Susan Boyle, 47-year-old singing wonder, performed as a contestant on Britain's Got Talent. She has an amazing and beautiful voice. I got teary-eyed to be honest. I would have been like the audience when she first came onto the stage.

If you've got the talent, drive, perseverance, passion and a dream, don't give up. F*ck those who laugh in your face because you don't look the part. They're just jealous of something that they may or may not have or can't fulfill. We live in a cynical world and little by little a flower will bloom and it will open our eyes to something special. Truth be told, I'm as guilty as the next person for having judged a book by its cover. It's really something we all need to work on.

It's really worth the watch.

Where the wild things are... I never read that book as a kid either - I think was too much of a fraidy cat and my mom was afraid that I'd have bad dreams. It looks like it's going to be awesome.

Oh, Susan Boyle... She's so great!

I tend to get weary when it comes to adaptation, but I'm definitely excited about this. I like Spike Jonze's work, too.

Sweta: Thank you for visiting. There is that possibility that he may get scared. You can always show it to him when he's a little older.
