Strawberry Swing

Coldplay premiered their latest music video for the song Strawberry Swing this week. Created by Shynola, which is a "collective name of a group of four visual artists based in London who have collaborated on a variety of projects, most notably a number of acclaimed music videos for several pioneering artists" as written on their wikipedia page.

The video is about Chris Martin playing an animated superhero in a larger than life world drawn entirely in chalk. He fights an animated giant squirrel in it and saves a damsel in distress. As weird as the giant squirrel sounds, the video is really awesome. I've watched it several times already and always find myself glued to the screen. It's completely stop-motion animation piece. This is probably one of the best music videos I've seen this year. The full video is only available to view on Babelgum, but they did release a 30-sec preview. I added that below as well as the link to the full video. You really have to check it out. It makes me want to try my hand at a little animation again. It's been a while since I've done something like that.

I also put the video to their song Life In Technicolor ii, a song that can can be found on the EP they had release this year called Prospekt's March. The EP had songs that they wanted to include in their latest album Viva La Vida, but were too late to include. I didn't know they had released it until recently. Anyway, the video is of the band as Punch and Judy type hand puppets with stage, or should I say, expanding stage. Watch it and you'll see what I mean. It's a really funny and fun video.

Maybe I'll post one of my old animation work next week. Maybe, just maybe.
